	1	Association between lumican gene-1554 T/C polymorphism and high myopia in Asian population:a meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To investigate the association between lumican gene-1554 T/C polymorphism and high myopia susceptibility.METHODS:We searched the published literature in the Medline,Embase,and CBM databases from inception to July 2013.A meta-analysis was performed by the programs RevMan 5.1 and Stata 12.0,and the odds ratio(OR) with 95% confidence interval(CI) was calculated in fixed or random effect model based on heterogeneity test among studies.RESLUTS:Seven case-control studies with a total of 1 233 cases and 936 controls were included.A statistical significant association with high myopia was observed in the recessive model(TT vs CT +CC:OR=1.92;95% CI=1.14-3.23) and codominant model(TT vs CT:OR=1.81,95%CI=1.19-2.75).CONCLUSION:The present meta-analysis suggested that lumican-1554 T/C polymorphism might be moderately associated with high myopia susceptibility.This conclusion warrants confirmation by further studies. 	2	Regulation of scleral fibroblast differentiation by bone morphogenetic protein-2显示文摘Bone morphogenesis proteins(BMPs) are multi-functional growth factors. They are expressed in retina,retinal pigment epithelium(RPE) and sclera and serve as a regulator in the growth and development of the eye. This article reviewed the chondrogenic potency of the sclera,biochemical and pathological changes of myopic scleral tissue and the differentiation of chondrogenesis by BMP-2. We proposed the hypothesis that BMP-2 can regulate differentiate of scleral fibroblasts and affect the development of myopia.
