| 1 | An unusual presentation of fistulating Crohn's disease:Ascites显示文摘Whilst ascites is a common presenting complaint in patients with decompensated chronic liver disease and disseminated malignancy,in Crohn's disease however,it is exceptionally rare.We describe a patient with no prior history of inflammatory bowel or liver disease,presenting with rapid onset gross ascites and scrotal swelling.Further investigations revealed severe hypoalbuminemia and transudative ascitic fluid with normal other liver function tests and a negative liver screen.Computed tomography revealed widespread ascites and pleural effusions with no features of malignancy or portal hypertension,and a small bowel barium series showed features of fistulating small bowel Crohn's disease.An ileo-colonoscopy confirmed the presence of terminal ileal inflammatory stricture.The patient's clinical condition and serum albumin improved with a combination of diuretics,elemental diet,antibiotics and oral 5-aminosalicylic acid therapy. | Richard Kia David White Sanchoy Sarkar | 2010 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2010，2，1： | 0 |
| 2 | Thrombosis of gallbladder vein presenting as acute peritonitis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Thrombosis of the gallbladder vein occurs rarely,and few clinical features have been reported.We report here with a case of gallbladder vein thrombosis presenting as acute peritonitis in a 75-year-old man.METHODS:The old man with sudden continuous abdominal pain resorted to the emergency room and treated for peritonitis associated with acute cholecystitis.The treatment failed to slow the progress of the disease,and massive ascites appeared with thickening of the gallbladder wall.Laparotomic investigation was conducted later.RESULT:Pathologically,thrombosis of the gallbladder vein was diagnosed.CONCLUSIONS:The thrombosis of the gallbladder vein is characterized by thickening of the gallbladder wall,ascites,and sudden continuous abdominal pain.The causes of deep vein thrombosis at this unusual site vary. | Ge, Chun-Lin Luo, Xiao-Guang Liu, Yong-Feng | 2010 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2010，9，1： | 0 |
