| 1 | Phase 1 clinical trial demonstrated that MUC1 positive metastatic seminal vesicle cancer can be effectively eradicated by modified Anti-MUC1 chimeric antigen receptor transduced T cells显示文摘Recent progress in chimeric antigen receptor-modified T-cell(CAR-T cell) technology in cancer therapy is extremely promising, especially in the treatment of patients with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In contrast, due to the hostile immunosuppressive microenvironment of a solid tumor, CAR T-cell accessibility and survival continue to pose a considerable challenge, which leads to their limited therapeutic efficacy. In this study, we constructed two anti-MUC1 CAR-T cell lines. One set of CAR-T cells contained SM3 single chain variable fragment(sc Fv) sequence specifically targeting the MUC1 antigen and co-expressing interleukin(IL) 12(named SM3-CAR). The other CAR-T cell line carried the SM3 sc Fv sequence modified to improve its binding to MUC1 antigen(named p SM3-CAR) but did not co-express IL-12. When those two types of CAR-T cells were injected intratumorally into two independent metastatic lesions of the same MUC1+ seminal vesicle cancer patient as part of an interventional treatment strategy, the initial results indicated no side-effects of the MUC1 targeting CAR-T cell approach, and patient serum cytokines responses were positive. | 2 | Effects of calcined aluminum salts on the advanced dewatering and solidification/stabilization of sewage sludge显示文摘The high moisture content (80%) in the sewage dewatered sludge is the main obstacle to disposal and recycling. A chemical dewatering and stabilization/solidification (S/S) alternative for the sludge was developed, using calcined aluminum salts (AS) as solidifier, and CaCl 2 , Na 2 SO 4 and CaSO 4 as accelerators, to enhance the mechanical compressibility making the landfill operation possible. The properties of the resultant matrixes were determined in terms of moisture contents, unconfined compressive strength, products of hydration, and toxicity characteristics. The results showed that AS exhibited a moderate pozzolanic activity, and the mortar AS 0 obtained with 5% AS and 10% CaSO 4 of AS by weight presented a moisture contents below 50%–60% and a compressive strength of (51.32 ± 2.9) kPa after 5–7 days of curing time, meeting the minimum requirement for sanitary landfill. The use of CaSO 4 obviously improved the S/S performance, causing higher strength level. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimetry- differential scanning calorimetry investigations revealed that a large amount of hydrates (viz., gismondine and CaCO 3 ) were present in solidified sludge, leading to the depletion of evaporable water and the enhancement of the strength. In addition, the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) and horizontal vibration (HJ 557-2009) leaching test were conducted to evaluate their environmental compatibility. | 4 | Co-inhibition of methanogens for methane mitigation in biodegradable wastes显示文摘The inhibition effects and mechanisms of chlorinated methane and acetylene on methanogenesis in the anaerobic digestion process of the biodegradable wastes were investigated.It was found that both chloroform and acetylene could effectively inhibit methanogens while the biodegradability of the wastes was not affected.Acetylene inhibited the activity of methanogens,while chloroform inhibited metabolic process of methanogenesis.A central composite design(CCD) and response surface regression analysis(RSREG) were employed to determine the optimum conditions and interaction effects of chloroform and acetylene in terms of inhibition effciency,production of volatile fatty acids(VAF) and molar ratio of propionic acid to acetic acid.Chloroform had significant effect on enhancing the production of VFA(F = 121.3;p < 0.01),and acetylene promoted the inhibition effciency(F = 99.15;p < 0.05) more effectively than chloroform(F = 9.72;p > 0.05).In addition,a maximum molar ratio of propionic acid to acetic acid of 1.208 was estimated under the optimum conditions of chloroform concentration of 9.05 mg/kg and acetylene concentration of 3.6×10-3(V/V).Hence,methanogens in the wastes can be inhibited while the stabilization process of the biodegradable wastes can still work well,as propionic acid generated during the inhibition process could hardly be utilized by methanogens. | ZHAO Tiantao ZHANG Lijie CHEN Haoquan ZHAO Youcai | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,6: | 12 |
| 5 | Three-stage aged refuse biofilter for the treatment of landfill leachate显示文摘A field-scale aged refuse(AR) biofilter constructed in Shanghai Refuse Landfill,containing about 7000 m3 aged refuse inside,was evaluated for its performance in the treatment of landfill leachate. This AR biofilter can be divided into three stages and can manage 50 m3 landfill leachate per day. The physical,chemical,and biological characteristics of AR were analyzed for evaluating the AR biofilter as leachate treatment host. The results revealed that over 87.8%-96.2% of COD and 96.9%-99.4% of ammonia nitrogen were removed by the three-stage AR biofilter when the influent leachate COD and ammonia nitrogen concentration were in the range 5478-10842 mg/L and 811-1582 mg/L,respectively. The final effiuent was inodorous and pale yellow with COD and ammonia nitrogen below 267-1020 mg/L and 6-45 mg/L,respectively. The three-stage AR biofilter had effcient nitrification but relative poor denitrification capacity with a total nitrogen(TN) removal of 58%-73%. The external temperature of AR biofilter did not influence the total ammonia nitrogen removal significantly. | 6 | Thermal behaviors and heavy metal vaporization of phosphatized tannery sludge in incineration process显示文摘The high concentration of heavy metal (Cu, Cr, Zn, Pb) in tannery sludge causes severe heavy metal emissions in the process of incineration. In the present investigation, the tannery sludge was treated with 85% phosphoric acid before the incineration process in the tube furnace to control the heavy metal emissions. The thermal behavior and heavy metal vaporization of pre-treated tannery sludge were investigated, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis were also implemented to elucidate the chemical mechanisms responsible for the thermal behavior and weakening of heavy metal vaporization of pre-treated tannery sludge. The results obtained show that the differences in thermal behaviors between untreated and pre-treated tannery sludge are caused by the reaction of phosphoric acid and calcium carbonate. | 8 | A pilot-scale study of cryolite precipitation from high fluoride-containing wastewater in a reaction-separation integrated reactor显示文摘Fluoride removal by traditional precipitation generates huge amounts of a water-rich sludge with low quality, which has no commercial or industrial value. The present study evaluated the feasibility of recovering fluoride as low water content cryolite from industrial fluoride-containing wastewater. A novel pilot-scale reaction-separation integrated reactor was designed. The results showed that the seed retention time in the reactor was prolonged to strengthen the induced crystallization process. The particle size of cryolite increased with increasing seed retention time, which decreased the water content. The recovery rate of cryolite was above 75% under an influent fluoride concentration of 3500 mg/L, a reaction temperature of 50°C, and an influent flow of 40 L/hr. | 9 | Structure of the Upper Mantle and Transition Zone Beneath the South China Block Imaged by Finite Frequency Tomography显示文摘We applied the finite frequency tomography method to S wave data recorded by 350 broadband stations beneath the South China Block(SCB) and its surroundings from earthquakes occurring between July 2007 and July 2010,to better understand upper mantle deformation.Differential travel-times in the pair of stations with appropriate weighting for each station are used in the inversion.Our results are consistent with previous tomography that show a high velocity anomaly beneath the Sichuan basin and a high velocity anomaly in the transition zone beneath the Yangtze Craton.However,the resolution of mantle heterogeneity provides new insight into the tectonic framework of subduction of Burmese lithosphere in the west part of the study region and subduction of oceanic lithosphere in the east.In the subduction realm,west of 107°E,a significant fast S-wave anomaly is located on the southeast of Sichuan Basin.East of 107°E,and two narrow and discontinuous fast S-wave anomalies occur at a depth of 400-600 km beneath the middle of the South China block overlain by the pronounced low S-wave anomalies at a depth of 100 and 400 km.If the fast anomalies located in the mantle transition zone represent stagnant slabs,their fragmented nature may suggest that they could be produced by different episodes of subduction beneath western Pacific island and the above slow velocity anomaly may associated with the back-arc regions of ongoing subduction.In addition,tomography also reveals an anomalously high S-wave velocity continental root extends eastward to a depth 400 km beneath the eastern Sichuan Basin.This anomaly may be related to eastern extrusion of Indian lithosphere associated with the collision of India and Eurasia.Moreover,our results also show large slow anomalies beneath the Red River fault region connected to deeper anomalies beneath the South China Fold Belt and South China Sea.AH these observations are consistent with the scenario that the South China block has been built by both of subduction of Paleopacific plate and eastward subduction of Burma microplate. | SUN Ya LIU Jianxin TANG Youcai CHEN Jiawei ZHOU Keping CHEN Bo | 2016 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2016,90,5: | 8 |

| 11 | Crust and upper mantle structures beneath Northeast China from receiver function studies显示文摘P-wave and S-wave receiver function analyses have been performed along a profile consisted of 27broadband seismic stations to image the crustal and upper mantle discontinuities across Northeast China.The results show that the average Moho depth varies from about37 km beneath the Daxing'anling orogenic belt in the west to about 33 km beneath the Songliao Basin,and to about35 km beneath the Changbai mountain region in the east.Our results reveal that the Moho is generally flat beneath the Daxing'anling region and a remarkable Moho offset(about 4 km) exists beneath the basin-mountain boundary,the Daxing'anling-Taihang Gravity Line.Beneath the Tanlu faults zone,which seperates the Songliao Basin and Changbai region,the Moho is uplift and the crustal thickness changes rapidly.We interpret this feature as that the Tanlu faults might deeply penetrate into the upper mantle,and facilitate the mantle upwelling along the faults during the Cenozoic era.The average depth of the lithosphereasthenosphere boundary(LAB) is *80 km along the profile which is thinner than an average thickness of a continental lithosphere.The LAB shows an arc-like shape in the basin,with the shallowest part approximately beneath the center of the basin.The uplift LAB beneath the basin might be related to the extensive lithospheric stretching in theMesozoic.In the mantle transition zone,a structurally complicated 660 km discontinuity with a maximum 35 km depression beneath the Changbai region is observed.The35 km depression is roughly coincident with the location of the stagnant western pacific slab on top of the 660 km discontinuity revealed by the recent P wave tomography. | Zhen Guo Yuliang Cao Xianguang Wang Y.John Chen Jieyuan Ning Weiguang He Youcai Tang Yongge Feng | 2014 | Earthquake Science2014,27,3: | 6 |

| 13 | Removal of Pb(Ⅱ) from aqueous solutions using waste textiles/poly(acrylic acid) composite synthesized by radical polymerization technique显示文摘Waste textiles(WTs) are the inevitable outcome of human activity and should be separated and recycled in view of sustainable development. In this work, WT was modified through grafting with acrylic acid(AA) via radical polymerization process using ceric ammonium nitrate(CAN) as an initiator and microwave and/or UV irradiation as energy supply. The acrylic acid-grafted waste textiles(WT-g-AA) thus obtained was then used as an adsorbent to remove Pb(Ⅱ) from Pb(Ⅱ)-containing wastewater. The effects of p H, initial concentrations of Pb(Ⅱ) and adsorbent dose were investigated, and around 95% Pb(Ⅱ) can be removed from the aqueous solution containing 10 mg/L at p H 6.0–8.0. The experimental adsorption isotherm data was fitted to the Langmuir model with maximum adsorption capacity of35.7 mg Pb/g WT-g-AA. The Pb-absorbed WT-g-AA was stripped using dilute nitric acid solution and the adsorption capacity of Pb-free material decreased from 95.4%(cycle 1) to91.1%(cycle 3). It was considered that the WT-g-AA adsorption for Pb(Ⅱ) may be realized through the ion-exchange mechanism between \COOH and Pb(Ⅱ). | 14 | Leachate treatment using a demonstration aged refuse biofilter显示文摘Approximately 7000 m3 of aged refuse(AR) with a placement of over eight years was excavated from Shanghai Refuse Landfill,the largest landfill in China,and used for the construction of a two-stage bioreactor(AR biofilter) media for the biological treatment of 100 m3 of refuse landfill leachate.It was found that over 64% of COD,96.9%-99.8% of NH4+-N,and 95.8%-99.8% of BOD5 could be removed by the AR biofilter,when the leachate with initial COD,BOD5,and NH4+-N concentrations were 986-4128 mg/L,264-959 mg/L,and 538-1583 mg/L,respectively.The corresponding concentrations in the effluent were reduced to below 300-400 mg/L,2-12 mg/L,and 10-20 mg/L,respectively.The effluent was clear and pale yellow with suspended solid below 150 mg/L and color below 150 Pt/Co degree.Meanwhile,the total nitrogen removal was only 49%-63%,indicating a relative poor denitrification capacity of AR biofilter.The effluent pH was neutral and the population of Escherichia coli was less than 10-1 CFU/mL.Hence,it was considered that the demonstration project can work well for the effective treatment of leachate. | Hongjiang Li Yingying Gu Youcai Zhao Zhiping Wen | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,7: | 6 |
| 15 | Study on hydrometallurgical process and kinetics of manganese extraction from low-grade manganese carbonate ores显示文摘In order to utilize low-grade manganese ore resources effectively, a hydrometallurgical process was developed for manganese extraction in dilute sulfuric acid medium, and the kinetics of leaching manganese was also investigated. At room temperature, manganese from low-grade manganese carbonate ores was extracted by sulfuric acid leaching without reductants. During the extracting process, single-factor analysis method was used to evaluate the effects of grinding fineness, sulfuric acid concentration,liquid-to-solid ratio, agitation rate and leaching time on the leaching efficiencies of Mn and Fe. The optimal leaching conditions are determined as coarse particles of below 2 mm size(without ball-milling),sulfuric acid concentration of 0.86 mol/L, liquid-to-solid ratio of 5:1, agitation rate of 150 r/min and leaching for 180 min at room temperature. Under the optimal conditions, the leaching efficiencies of Mn and Fe are 96.21% and 13.35%, respectively. In addition, through the experiments at different temperatures, it is found that the leaching process follows the shrinking core model under the conditions of changing acid concentration and intermittent reaction device. Previously, inactivation of a histone H3 deacetylase in Calcarisporium arbuscula had led to pleiotropic activation and overexpression of more than 75% of the biosynthetic genes and isolation of ten compounds. Further investigation of the crude extract of C. arbuscula Δhda A strain resulted in the isolation of twelve new diterpenoids including three cassanes(1-3), one cleistanthane(4), six pimaranes(5-10), and two isopimaranes(11 and 12) along with two know cleistanthane analogues. Their structures were elucidated by extensive NMR spectroscopic data analysis. | 18 | Effect of bio-column composed of aged refuse on methane abatement-A novel configuration of biological oxidation in refuse landfill显示文摘An experimental bio-column composed of aged refuse was installed around the exhaust pipe as a new way to mitigate methane in refuse landfill.One of the objectives of this work was to assess the effect of aged refuse thickness in bio-column on reducing CH 4 emissions.Over the study period,methane oxidation was observed at various thicknesses,5 cm (small size),10 cm (middle size) and 15 cm (large size),representing one to three times of pipeline diameters.The middle and large size both showed over 90% methane conversion,and the highest methane conversion rate of above 95% occurred in the middle-size column cell.Michaelis-Menten equation addressed the methanotrophs diffusion in different layers of the bio-columns.Maximum methanotrophic activity (V max) measured at the three thicknesses ranged from 6.4 × 10 3 to 15.6 × 10 3 units,and the half-saturation value (K M) ranged from 0.85% to 1.67%.Both the highest V max and K M were observed at the middle-size of the bio-column,as well as the largest methanotrophs population,suggesting a significant efficiency of methane mitigation happened in the optimum zone with greatest affinity and methanotrophic bacteria activities.Therefore,bio-column is a potential style for methane abatement in landfill,and the aged refuse both naturally formed and artificially placed in the column plays a critical role in CH 4 emission. | Dan Han Youcai Zhao Binjie Xue Xiaoli Chai | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,5: | 4 |
| 19 | Three dimensional efficient meshfree simulation of large deformation failure evolution in soil medium显示文摘An efficient Galerkin meshfree formulation for three dimensional simulation of large deformation failure evolution in soils is presented. This formulation utilizes the stabilized conforming nodal integration, where for the purpose of stability and efficiency a Lagrangian smoothing strain at nodal point is constructed and thereafter the internal energy is evaluated nodally. This formulation ensures the linear exactness, efficiency and spatial stability in a unified manner and it makes the conventional Galerkin meshfree method affordable for three dimensional simulation. The three dimensional implementation of stabilized conforming nodal integration is discussed in details. To model the failure evolution in soil medium a coupled elasto-plastic damage model is used and an objective stress integration algorithm in combination of elasto-damage predictor and plastic corrector method is employed for stress update. | 20 | Spatial-temporal effects of temperature control device of stoplog intake for JinpingⅠhydropower station显示文摘This article presents an analysis of the spatial-temporal effect of multi-level stoplog gate intake adopted at Jinping I hydropower station,which is to reduce the adverse impacts on fish breeding caused by cold water discharged from the station in spring and summer.A mathematical model is applied to predict the temperature distribution in reservoir and outflow temperature process of the downstream of Jinping I station with two different types of intake-low level single intake and multi-level stoplog gate intake.For a single station,the latter shows great improvement over the former on temperature distortion(suitable for fish breeding) .In order to evaluate the cumulative effect for different intake types,the analysis is extended to include the next four hydropower stations downstream.The results show that the outflow temperature of stoplog intake is more close to the nature condition comparing with the low level intake for the Jinping I hydropower station.Especially the side effect of cold water in April during temperature raising period can be well improved,but no obvious effect in winter.Jinping I hydropower station has dominated influence on temperature process at lower reach of Yalong River.Influenced by the downstream hydropower station cascade,cold temperature effect in spring and summer seems to be cumulatively enhanced,but the heating effect turns weakened during winter.The analysis suggests the improving effect of stoplog intake can maintain 80%at estuary in April,which clearly shows that stratified intake scheme used in control station can mitigate the cold temperature effect in spring and summer for the whole river basin. | DENG Yun,TUO YouCai ,LI Jia,LI KeFeng & LI Ran State Key Laboratory of Hydraulic & Mountain River Engineering,Sichuan University,Chengdu 610065,China | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,S1: | 4 |
