| 2 | Genesis of the Bangbu Orogenic Gold Deposit, Tibet: Evidence from Fluid Inclusion, Stable Isotopes, and Ar-Ar Geochronology显示文摘The Bangbu gold deposit is a large orogenic gold deposit in Tibet formed during the AlpineHimalayan collision. Ore bodies(auriferous quartz veins) are controlled by the E-W-trending Qusong-Cuogu-Zhemulang brittle-ductile shear zone. Quartz veins at the deposit can be divided into three types: pre-metallogenic hook-like quartz veins, metallogenic auriferous quartz veins, and postmetallogenic N-S quartz veins. Four stages of mineralization in the auriferous quartz veins have been identified:(1) Stage S1 quartz+coarse-grained sulfides,(2) Stage S2 gold+fine-grained sulfides,(3) Stage S3 quartz+carbonates, and(4) Stage S4 quartz+ greigite. Fluid inclusions indicate the oreforming fluid was CO_2-N_2-CH_4 rich with homogenization temperatures of 170–261°C, salinities 4.34–7.45 wt% Na Cl equivalent. δ^(18)Ofluid(3.98‰–7.18‰) and low δDV-SMOW(-90‰ to-44‰) for auriferous quartz veins suggest ore-forming fluids were mainly metamorphic in origin, with some addition of organic matter. Quartz vein pyrite has δ^(34)SV-CDT values of 1.2‰–3.6‰(an average of 2.2‰), whereas pyrite from phyllite has δ^(34)SV-CDT 5.7‰–9.9‰(an average of 7.4‰). Quartz vein pyrites yield 206Pb/204 Pb ratios of 18.662–18.764, 207Pb/204 Pb 15.650–15.683, and ^(208)Pb/204 Pb 38.901–39.079. | 3 | Lowering the energy consumption in silicon photonic devices and systems [Invited]显示文摘We review current silicon photonic devices and their performance in connection with energy consumption.Four critical issues are identified to lower energy consumption in devices and systems: reducing the influence of the thermo-optic effect, increasing the wall-plug efficiency of lasers on silicon, optimizing energy performance of modulators, and enhancing the sensitivity of photodetectors. Major conclusions are(1) Mach–Zehnder interferometer-based devices can achieve athermal performance without any extra energy consumption while microrings do not have an efficient passive athermal solution;(2) while direct bonded III–V-based Si lasers can meet system power requirement for now, hetero-epitaxial grown III–V quantum dot lasers are competitive and may be a better option for the future;(3) resonant modulators, especially coupling modulators, are promising for low-energy consumption operation even when the power to stabilize their operation is included;(4) benefiting from high sensitivity and low cost, Ge/Si avalanche photodiode is the most promising photodetector and can be used to effectively reduce the optical link power budget. | 5 | Effect of yellow rice wine on anti-aging ability in aged mice induced by D-galactose显示文摘The present study is focused on investigation of the health protective effect of yellow rice wine(YRW)in mice and the potential underlying mechanism.Symptoms of aging were induced in mice by using Dgalactose(D-gal),and different doses of YRW(4,8,and 12 mL/kg BW)were orally administrated to D-galtreated mice for a period of six weeks.The in vivo data obtained in the present study preliminary indicated that YRW markedly increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes and reduced the concentration of MDA both in the brain and liver.Furthermore,a forced swim test showed that moderate intake of YRW(8 mL/kg BW)significantly decreased the duration of immobility,reduced the blood content of urea nitrogen and lactic acid,and increased hepatic glycogen storage.Besides,results from the Morris water maze test suggested that YRW significantly reversed cognitive impairment and also alleviated neuroapoptosis in the experimental mice by regulating the gene expressions of Bax/Bcl-2 and caspase-3.The above results indicated YRW has a potential anti-aging effect in mice and provided us certain molecular evidence for this action. | Rong Liu Zukang Fu Fengjie Zhang Qingzhong Mao Chunguang Luan Xinglin Han Jie Xue Deliang Wang Si Qin Feike Hao | 2020 | Food Science and Human Wellness2020,9,2: | 8 |

Therefore, at the beginning of the new year, we are honored to have invited Mr. Samuel Qi (Qi Qingzhong), a famous Chinese communication technology expert and GM of Shanghai Symphony Telecommunications Co., Ltd., to give his views on the development strategy of the Internet of Things and Machine to Machine (M2M) Communications. Mr. Qi believes that M2M is currently the leading and most practical service in the Internet of Things. Globally, many governments have a high regard for M2M services, and M2M has had or will have large-scale applications in some industries and will gradually influence more industries. Mr. Qi points out that M2M will become one of the core LTE applications in the coming years. Moreover, M2M terminals will provide a high degree of innovation and integration in form and service support. For M2M application in some industries, they will increasingly support wireless access bandwidth flexibility and service scheduling management and may also integrate with neighboring services to some extent. | 8 | Codon Usage Biases of Transposable Elements and Host Nuclear Genes in Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryza sativa显示文摘Transposable elements (TEs) are mobile genetic entities ubiquitously distributed in nearly all genomes.High frequency of codons ending in A/T in TEs has been previously observed in some species.In this study,the biases in nucleotide composition and codon usage of TE transposases and host nuclear genes were investigated in the AT-rich genome of Arabidopsis thaliana and the GC-rich genome of Oryza sativa.Codons ending in A/T are more frequently used by TEs compared with their host nuclear genes.A remarkable positive correlation between highly expressed nuclear genes and C/G-ending codons were detected in O.sativa (r=0.944 and 0.839,respectively,P<0.0001) but not in A.thaliana,indicating a close association between the GC content and gene expression level in monocot species.In both species,TE codon usage biases are similar to that of weakly expressed genes.The expression and activity of TEs may be strictly controlled in plant genomes.Mutation bias and selection pressure have simultaneously acted on the TE evolution in A.thaliana and O.sativa.The consistently observed biases of nucleotide composition and codon usage of TEs may also provide a useful clue to accurately detect TE sequences in different species. | Jia Jia Qingzhong Xue | 2009 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2009,7,4: | 4 |

| 10 | Chromosome-scale genome assembly of sweet cherry(Prunus avium L.)cv.Tieton obtained using long-read and Hi-C sequencing显示文摘Sweet cherry(Prunus avium)is an economically significant fruit species in the genus Prunus.However,in contrast to other important fruit trees in this genus,only one draft genome assembly is available for sweet cherry,which was assembled using only Illumina short-read sequences.The incompleteness and low quality of the current sweet cherry draft genome limit its use in genetic and genomic studies.A high-quality chromosome-scale sweet cherry reference genome assembly is therefore needed.A total of 65.05 Gb of Oxford Nanopore long reads and 46.24 Gb of Illumina short reads were generated,representing~190x and 136x coverage,respectively,of the sweet cherry genome.The final de novo assembly resulted in a phased haplotype assembly of 344.29 Mb with a contig N50 of 3.25 Mb.Hi-C scaffolding of the genome resulted in eight pseudochromosomes containing 99.59%of the bases in the assembled genome.Genome annotation revealed that more than half of the genome(59.40%)was composed of repetitive sequences,and 40,338 protein-coding genes were predicted,75.40%of which were functionally annotated.With the chromosomescale assembly,we revealed that gene duplication events contributed to the expansion of gene families for salicylic acid/jasmonic acid carboxyl methyltransferase and ankyrin repeat-containing proteins in the genome of sweet cherry.Four auxin-responsive genes(two GH3s and two SAURs)were induced in the late stage of fruit development,indicating that auxin is crucial for the sweet cherry ripening process.In addition,772 resistance genes were identified and functionally predicted in the sweet cherry genome.The high-quality genome assembly of sweet cherry obtained in this study will provide valuable genomic resources for sweet cherry improvement and molecular breeding. | Jiawei Wang Weizhen Liu Dongzi Zhu Po Hong Shizhong Zhang Shijun Xiao Yue Tan Xin Chen Li Xu Xiaojuan Zong Lisi Zhang Hairong Wei Xiaohui Yuan Qingzhong Liu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 4 |
| 11 | Synergic Mechanism of an Organic Corrosion Inhibitor for Preventing Carbon Steel Corrosion in Chloride Solution显示文摘The inhibition effect of dimethylethanolamine(DMEA) and its composite with carboxylic acid was studied with the electrochemical tests. The experimental results indicate that DMEA is not a good inhibitor but the composite of DMEA with caprylic acid exhibits excellent inhibiting efficiency. The synergic mechanism of the organic corrosion inhibitors(OCIs) was studied with quantum chemical calculations. It is found that the DMEA forms a quaternary ammonium salt with the proton in carboxylic acid, and a cyclic complex formed between the salt and Fe may be responsible for the enhancement of inhibiting efficiency. The possible hydrogen bond formed between DMEA and carboxylic acid is not enough for the inhibiting effect. | 12 | Heterogeneous Network-Based Chronic Disease Progression Mining显示文摘Healthcare insurance fraud has caused billions of dollars in losses in public healthcare funds around the world. In particular, healthcare insurance fraud in chronic diseases is especially rampant. Understanding disease progression can help investigators detect healthcare insurance frauds early on. Existing disease progression methods often ignore complex relations, such as the time-gap and pattern of disease occurrence. They also do not take into account the different medication stages of the same chronic disease, which is of great help when conducting healthcare insurance fraud detection and reducing healthcare costs. In this paper, we propose a heterogeneous network-based chronic disease progression mining method to improve the current understanding on the progression of chronic diseases, including orphan diseases. The method also considers the different medication stages of the same chronic disease. | 13 | Low-cost hybrid integrated 4 × 25.78 Gb/s CWDM TOSA for 10 km transmission using DFB-LDs and an arrayed waveguide grating multiplexer显示文摘We have developed a cost-effective and highly compact 100-Gb/s coarse wavelength division multiplexing(CWDM) transmitter optical subassembly(TOSA) using lens-free hybrid integration. To achieve large alignment tolerances, distributed feedback laser diodes(DFB-LDs) are butt-coupled to a four-channel silica-based planar lightwave circuit(PLC) arrayed waveguide grating, with the silicon sub-mounts and PLC adhesively bonded.Then, a flexible printed circuit is employed to connect the internal DFB-LDs and the exterior of the TOSA package for radiofrequency signal transmission, eliminating the expensive ceramic feed-through. | 18 | Athermal 4-channel (de-)multiplexer in silicon nitride fabricated at low temperature显示文摘We have designed and realized an athermal 4-channel wavelength(de-)multiplexer in silicon nitride(Si N).Minimized thermal sensitivity is achieved in a wide wavelength range by using wide and narrow waveguides with low and different thermal-optic coefficients in the two arms of Mach–Zehnder interferometers(MZIs). The Si N core layer and Si O2 cladding layers are deposited by a low-temperature plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition process. The fabricated MZI filter exhibits a thermal sensitivity within 2.0 pm∕°C in a wavelength range of 55 nm to near 1300 nm. Then, an athermal(de-)multiplexer based on cascaded MZIs has been demonstrated with a crosstalk ≤-22 d B and a thermal sensitivity <4.8 pm∕°C for all four channels, reduced by 77% compared to a conventional Si N(de-)multiplexer. | 19 | The Impact of the US Interest Rate Hike on Emerging Market Economies and the Belt and Road Initiative显示文摘Since the end of 2015,the US Federal Reserve has raised its benchmark interest rate nine times.This has led to capital outflows and asset depreciation in many emerging market economies.The present paper examines the factors that determine the financial volatility of emerging markets in the face of external shocks.By calculating the capital flows of 30 emerging markets from 1990 to 2018 and conducting panel regression,this paper finds that countries with good infrastructure facilities,a sound banking system and high economic growth have significantly lower cross-border financial risks.An implication from the empirical analysis is that emerging countries would benefit greatly by actively taking part in the Belt and Road Initiative.The framework of the Belt and Road Initiative allows emerging countries better access to China s massive consumer market to promote trade and long-term growth.Their quality of infrastructure can be improved through cooperation with China in infrastructure investment.They can also jointly establish a cooperative financial framework to enhance regional financial stability.These strategies will reduce systematic financial risks and counteract the negative impacts of US interest rate hikes. | Shuyu Wu Biliang Hu Qingzhong Pan | 2019 | China & World Economy2019,27,3: | 3 |
