1Exploration of the formation mechanism and source attribution of ambient ozone in Chongqing with an observation-based model显示文摘An intensive field campaign was conducted in Chongqing during the summer of 2015 to explore the formation mechanisms of ozone pollution. The sources of ozone, the local production rates, and the controlling factors, as well as key species of volatile organic compounds(VOCs), were quantified by integrating a local ozone budget analysis, calculations of the relative incremental reactivity, and an empirical kinetic model approach. It was found that the potential for rapid local ozone formation exists in Chongqing. During ozone pollution episodes, the ozone production rates were found to be high at the upwind station Nan Quan, the urban station Chao Zhan, and the downwind station Jin-Yun Shan. The average local ozone production rate was 30×10^(-9) V/V h^(-1) and the daily integration of the produced ozone was greater than 180×10^(-9) V/V. High ozone concentrations were associated with urban and downwind air masses. At most sites, the local ozone production was VOC-limited and the key species were aromatics and alkene, which originated mainly from vehicles and solvent usage. In addition, the air masses at the northwestern rural sites were NO_x-limited and the local ozone production rates were significantly higher during the pollution episodes due to the increased NOx concentrations. In summary, the ozone abatement strategies of Chongqing should be focused on the mitigation of VOCs. 4Phosphorylation of LTF1, an MYB Transcription Factor in Populus, Acts as a Sensory Switch Regulating Lignin Biosynthesis in Wood Cells显示文摘Lignin is specifically deposited in plant secondary cell walls,and initiation of lignin biosynthesis is regulated by a variety of developmental and environmental signals.However,the mechanisms governing the regulation of lignin biosynthesis remain to be elucidated.In this study,we identified a lignin biosynthesis-associated transcription factor(LTF)from Populus,LTF1,which binds the promoter of a key lignin biosynthetic gene encoding 4-coumarate-CoA ligase(4CL).We showed that LTF1 in its unphosphorylated state functions as a regulator restraining lignin biosynthesis.When LTF1 becomes phosphorylated by PdMPK6 in response to external stimuli such as wounding,it undergoes degradation through a proteasome pathway,resulting in activation of lignification.Expression of a phosphorylation-null mutant version of LTF1 led to stable protein accumulation and persistent attenuation of lignification in wood cells.Taken together,our study reveals a mechanism whereby LTF1 phosphorylation acts as a sensory switch to regulate lignin biosynthesis in response to environmental stimuli.The discovery of novel modulators and mechanisms modifying lignin biosynthesis has important implications for improving the utilization of cell-wall biomass.Jinshan Gui Laifu Luo Yu Zhong Jiayan Sun Toshiaki Umezawa Laigeng Li 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,10:10
5Tolerance of Physocypria kraepelini (Crustacean, Ostracoda) to water-borne ammonia, phosphate and pH value显示文摘This study evaluated the median lethal concentration (LC50) and safe concentration of water-borne ammonia, phosphate and pH value on Physocypria kraepelini, a freshwater Ostracoda with a static renewal test system. The results indicated that the LC50 values of ammonia for P. kraepelini were 1026.71, 859.98, 771.79 and 583.82 mg/L at 24, 48, 72 and 96 h exposure, respectively, and the safe concentration range of ammonia for the long-term survival of P. kraepelini was less than 58.38 mg/L. The safe range of pH value for the survival of P. kraepelini was from 6.59 to 7.61. 6CRISPR-Cas9-based genome-wide screening identified novel targets for treating sorafenib-resistant hepatocellular carcinoma:a cross-talk between FGF21 and the NRF2 pathway显示文摘The treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has been dominated by multikinase inhibitors for more than a decade.However,drug resistance can severely restrict the efficacy of these drugs.Using CRISPR/CAS9 genome library screening,we evaluated Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1(KEAP1)as a key regulator of sorafenib’s susceptibility in HCC.We also investigated whether KEAP1’s knockdown can stabilize nuclear factor(erythroid-derived 2)-like 2(NRF2)protein levels that led to sorafenib’s resistance,including an NRF2 inhibitor that can synergize with sorafenib to abolish HCC’s growth in vitro and in vivo.Furthermore,we clarified that fibroblast growth factor 21(FGF21)is an important downstream regulator of NRF2 in HCC.Intriguingly,we observed that FGF21 bound to NRF2 through the C-terminus of FGF21,thereby stabilizing NRF2 by reducing its ubiquitination and generating a positive feedback loop in sorafenib-resistant HCC.These findings,therefore,propose that targeting FGF21 is a promising strategy to combat HCC sorafenib’s resistance.Jiang Chen Shi Jiang Huijiang Shao Bixia Li Tong Ji Daniel Staiculescu Jiayan He Jie Zhao Liuxin Cai Xiao Liang Junjie Xu Xiujun Cai 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,10:4
7Transcriptomic analysis reveals key regulators of mammogenesis and the pregnancy-lactation cycle显示文摘An organ unique to mammals,the mammary gland develops 90%of its mass after birth and experiences the pregnancy-lactation-involution cycle(PL cycle)during reproduction.To understand mammogenesis at the transcriptomic level and using a ribo-minus RNA-seq protocol,we acquired greater than 50 million reads each for the mouse mammary gland during pregnancy(day 12 of pregnancy),lactation(day 14 of lactation),and involution(day 7 of involution).The pregnancy-,lactation-and involution-related sequencing reads were assembled into 17344,10160,and 13739 protein-coding transcripts and1803,828,and 1288 non-coding RNAs(ncRNAs),respectively.Differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were defined in the three samples,which comprised 4843 DEGs(749 up-regulated and 4094 down-regulated)from pregnancy to lactation and4926 DEGs(4706 up-regulated and 220 down-regulated)from lactation to involution.Besides the obvious and substantive upand down-regulation of the DEGs,we observe that lysosomal enzymes were highly expressed and that their expression coincided with milk secretion.Further analysis of transcription factors such as Trps1,Gtf2i,Tcf7l2,Nupr1,Vdr,Rb1,and Aebp1,and ncRNAs such as mir-125b,Let7,mir-146a,and mir-15 has enabled us to identify key regulators in mammary gland development and the PL cycle.ZHOU YuanYuan GONG Wei XIAO JingFa WU JiaYan PAN LinLin LI XiaoNuan WANG XuMin WANG WeiWei HU SongNian YU Jun 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,3:4

10The 1 PW/0.1 Hz laser beamline in SULF facility显示文摘In this paper,we report the recent progress on the 1 PW/0.1 Hz laser beamline of Shanghai Superintense Ultrafast Laser Facility(SULF).The SULF-1 PW laser beamline is based on the double chirped pulse amplification(CPA)scheme,which can generate laser pulses of 50.8 J at 0.1 Hz after the final amplifier;the shot-to-shot energy fluctuation of the amplified pulse is as low as 1.2%(std).After compression,the pulse duration of 29.6 fs is achieved,which can support a maximal peak power of 1 PW.The contrast ratio at-80 ps before main pulse is measured to be 2.5×10^-11.The focused peak intensity is improved by optimizing the angular dispersion in the grating compressor.The maximal focused peak intensity can reach 2.7×10^19W/cm2 even with an f/26.5 off-axis parabolic mirror.The horizontal and vertical angular pointing fluctuations in 1 h are measured to be 1.89 and 2.45μrad,respectively.The moderate repetition rate and the good stability are desirable characteristics for lasermatter interactions.The SULF-1 PW laser beamline is now in the phase of commissioning,and preliminary experiments of particle acceleration and secondary radiation under 300–400 TW/0.1 Hz laser condition have been implemented.The progress on the experiments and the daily stable operation of the laser demonstrate the availability of the SULF-1 PW beamline.Zongxin Zhang Fenxiang Wu Jiabing Hu Xiaojun Yang Jiayan Gui Penghua Ji Xingyan Liu Cheng Wang Yanqi Liu Xiaoming Lu Yi Xu Yuxin Leng Ruxin Li Zhizhan Xu 2020High Power Laser Science and Engineering2020,8,1:2
11Nanocrystalline La2Mo2O9 and Its Characterization显示文摘In this work, both the thermal expansion and electrical conductivity of nanocrystalline La2Mo2O9 were studied.The nanocrystalline powder of La2Mo2O9 was obtained by sol-gel method, and with the help of SHP (superhigh pressure)up to 4.5 × 104 atm at 700 ℃ for a short time, and the nanocrystalline powder was densified without obvious particle size growth. The electrical conductivity of nanocrystalline La2Mo2O9 was one orderof magnitude lower than that of the microcrystalline sample at the same temperature. Owing to the phase transition, the microcrystalline La2Mo2O9 has an abrupt increase of thermal expansion with a peak value of 48 × 10-6 K-1 at 556 ℃. For the nanocrystalline material, the peak value increases to 112 × 10-6 K-1 at 520 ℃. 12Evaluating the bioavailability of heavy metals in natural-zeoliteamended aquatic sediments using thin-film diffusive gradients显示文摘The effectiveness of natural zeolite amendment of sediments as a restorative material was studied,as was the feasibility of utilizing thin-film gradient diffusion(DGT)as a proxy for the accumulation of heavy metals in Venerupis philippinaram.The results showed that addition of natural zeolite to sediment,significantly decreased the equilibrium partitioning of Cu,Pb,Cd,Cr and As between the sediment pore water and natural zeolite over 24 h by 67%,81%,72%,62%and 71%,respectively.Furthermore,the accumulation of Cu,Pb,Cd,Cr and As in V.philippinaram in the zeolite-amended sediments decreased by 44%,37%,54%,30%and 59%,respectively after 28 days and the absorption rates also declined.The amount of heavy metals enriched into the DGT film and V.philippinaram over 28 days showed a significant correlation(P<0.001)and indicated that DGT has the potential as a proxy to predict the bioaccumulation of heavy metals in benthic organisms in sediments amended by natural zeolite.Further studies focused on the modification of natural zeolite and the predictive ability of DGT in different sediments/organism scenarios are warranted.Juanying Li Chen Zhang Jianwei Lin Jie Yin Jiayan Xu Yiqin Chen 2018Aquaculture and Fisheries2018,3,3:2

15Power,Society,and Living Space: Evolution and Formation Mechanism of Urban Streets in China显示文摘Being one of the most important elements of urban public space, streets have contained rich social lives as well as the social and political connotations in Chinese cities with specific local characteristics, while most of them have been long neglected in the researches focusing on grand narratives and center-based perspectives. The paper retrospectively analyzes the evolution process of urban streets in China, dividing it into four critical periods. 16High‑Performance Flexible Microneedle Array as a Low‑Impedance Surface Biopotential Dry Electrode for Wearable Electrophysiological Recording and Polysomnography显示文摘Microneedle array(MNA)electrodes are an effective solution to achieve high-quality surface biopotential recording without the coordination of conductive gel and are thus very suitable for long-term wearable applications.Existing schemes are limited by flexibility,biosafety,and manufacturing costs,which create large barriers for wider applications.Here,we present a novel flexible MNA electrode that can simultaneously achieve flexibility of the substrate to fit a curved body surface,robustness of microneedles to penetrate the skin without fracture,and a simplified process to allow mass production.The compatibility with wearable wireless systems and the short preparation time of the electrodes significantly improves the comfort and convenience of electrophysiological recording.The normalized electrode–skin contact impedance reaches 0.98 kΩcm^(2)at 1 kHz and 1.50 kΩcm^(2)at 10 Hz,a record low value compared to previous reports and approximately 1/250 of the standard electrodes.The morphology,biosafety,and electrical/mechanical properties are fully characterized,and wearable recordings with a high signal-to-noise ratio and low motion artifacts are realized.The first reported clinical study of microneedle electrodes for surface electrophysiological monitoring was conducted in tens of healthy and sleep-disordered subjects with 44 nights of recording(over 8 h per night),providing substantial evidence that the electrodes can be leveraged to substitute for clinical standard electrodes.Junshi Li Yundong Ma Dong Huang Zhongyan Wang Zhitong Zhang Yingjie Ren Mengyue Hong Yufeng Chen Tingyu Li Xiaoyi Shi Lu Cao Jiayan Zhang Bingli Jiao Junhua Liu Hongqiang Sun Zhihong Li 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,8:1
